In today’s post we’re celebrating the strength of resilient women and drawing inspiration from the dandelion’s tenacity.  We’ll explore how embracing this resilience can empower us to overcome obstacles and thrive in all aspects of life.

First, let’s talk about dandelions.

When I embarked on the rebrand all I wanted was to find messaging that communicated to and about the women I get to work with now and in the future.

I wanted something that embodied the characteristics of women who are unsung heroes of their daily lives.

You know, like women, I was looking for something resilient and beautiful. Something that was powerful and healing but you would have to know it deeply to understand its depth. The women I work with, they bring brightness, and color to their environment, even if it sometimes seems like everything is working against them.

While I as busy rebranding my business and creating new offerings, The Husband started to try to grow grass in our backyard that at the time looked like a dirt track for motocross, thanks to a new puppy who loves to play fetch but is terrified to leave the backyard.

As weeks went by and I remained stuck on how to express all of these things I felt so deeply about the women I wanted to gather in our community a funny thing started to happen.

In the midst of our incoming lush, green grass, there grew a little patch of dandelions and they made me so happy that even The Husband didn’t mind them infiltrating his otherwise “perfect” lawn.

Dandelions provided so much joy to me as a kid: plucking off tops, blowing the white seedlings across the yard and gathering them in bunches to give to present bouquets to the people I loved most.

As an adult, I always marvel at the the bright yellow flowers that peek up between sidewalk cracks or refuse to be stopped, by an otherwise uniformly green lawn.

Dandelions bring the color even when the world is conspiring against them because of their tenacity. Then, when they are ready to move on, they reveal the soft and beautiful seedlings beneath that drift away to wherever needs them next.

Still not getting what dandelions have to do with you?

All this gazing at my lawn also reminded me these misnamed weeds are more than just a pretty face. Years ago, when I was trying to get my health on track I turned to anti-inflammatory smoothies as a mainstay of my diet. Know what was the first ingredient? You guessed it; dandelion leaves.

Not only are they underappreciated pops of color in a variety of settings, they are healers too.

That’s when I knew. The women I work with, resilient, underappreciated, lights in an often overwhelming darkness, healers, they are just like dandelions.

You are just like a dandelion.

You are who I am building this community and all that is in it for: Women of Wonder, the world’s human dandelions.
