Recently,  I saw a segment on a morning news program that was talking about the benefits of solo travel. Women report increased confidence, decreased anxiety and more clarity of purpose upon return.

I mentioned this to my husband and he remarked, “yeah, the solo retreat, you invented that.” We laughed and moved on with our days, but I couldn’t help but return to his off-hand remark over and over again in my brain.

Because he’s right. I did start traveling alone a long time ago. First, out of desperation (remind me to tell you about my prenatal panic attack that led me onto an airplane) then as a matter of necessity (tough to take 3 kids to a work conference), and now as a tool of self-care.

I learned after a few solo-trips that there is no better way to recharge and reconnect with myself than a night or two “away”. Sometimes away is an air bnb in the next town over and other times it is a retreat center in the mountains. The distance doesn’t matter so much as the time dedicated to making decisions with only myself in mind.

The magic of these solo-retreats is part of the reason that I started Therapy Intensives. I know first hand the power that comes from carving out time to take care of ourselves. I also know women are efficient and can move mountains if they’re given space and time to focus and grow. I saw that when I would gather them for group retreats. Massive shifts happen when women take time to heal.

Imagine what might happen if you dedicated 24-48 hours to your own self-care and healing. What would change if you made time for you? If you made time to focus on your needs without interruption or outside noise, in a safe and peaceful environment, with all the support you need from a highly trained trauma therapist (who is itching to use all this training to help you!) Don’t you think great things could happen for you?

Imagine what could change for you.
Imagine the healing.
Imagine the growth.

I can see it for you. Do you want to too?

Let’s talk about how you can.
